Pull Up a Chair

January 13 happens to be an unofficial holiday called Make Your Dreams Come True Day.
At first glance, that sounds big. Bold. Loud. Like something that requires vision boards, fireworks, or a dramatic overnight transformation.
But if I’m honest, that’s not really how dreams tend to come true—at least not the meaningful ones.
Most of the good things in life happen quietly. Slowly. In moments that don’t look impressive from the outside.
They happen when someone finally books the appointment they’ve been putting off. When they decide they’re worth the time. When they sit down, exhale, and say, “I’ve never done this before, but I think I’m ready.”
That’s what today made me think about.
Why This Blog Exists
I’ve wanted to start this blog for a long time.
Not because I needed another thing on my to-do list, but because there are so many conversations that happen in my chair that never make it onto social media. Thoughts, stories, questions, observations—little moments that matter, even if they don’t photograph well.
So this is a place for those.
This blog is an extension of the salon:
Hair tips you can actually use
Stories from behind the chair
Observations from the window
Ongoing education and growth
And the quiet in-between moments that make the experience what it is
Nothing performative. Nothing rushed. Just honest.
Dreams Don't Have to Be Loud
When we hear “make your dreams come true,” it’s easy to think it has to mean something drastic.
But sometimes the dream is smaller than that:
Feeling comfortable walking into a new space
Trusting someone with your hair again
Letting yourself be taken care of
Choosing consistency over chaos
Those are still dreams. And they still count.
I see it every day—people choosing themselves in subtle ways. Booking the appointment. Asking the question. Trying something new. Showing up even when they’re nervous.
That matters.
Pull Up a Chair
That’s why this blog is called Pull Up a Chair.
Because that’s how everything here starts.
With a seat.
With a pause.
With a conversation.
No pressure. No expectations. Just space to breathe, learn, and maybe see things a little differently.
If today is Make Your Dreams Come True Day, then maybe this is your reminder that dreams don’t need a grand gesture. Sometimes they just need permission.
New here?
